Minor issues in your house can be common, no matter if it is your drainage, electrical wiring, roof or plumbing system. But, that doesn’t mean that you have to keep your roof plumber on speed dial. You can follow some simple steps to minimise the issues in your home’s plumbing system. No, it doesn’t need any expert training, just a bit of elbow grease.

Check for Leakages

Your water system is made up of several pipes joined together. Professionals use some sealants in the joints to prevent water leakage. However, some water may still leak through some of the joints. If you don’t detect them in time and take steps to fix the issue, it can worsen very rapidly and will damage the fixtures and building structure surrounding it. So, if you see any such leakage issues or dampness around your plumbing, do a self-inspection or call an experienced plumber.

Fix Dripping Issues

You might have found your tap or shower dripping. But as it doesn’t seem to be too serious, most people don’t bother fixing it. However, as a plumbing and gas fitting expert says, the water splashes have enough power to damage the joint area of the tap or the shower within a few weeks. So, they need to be fixed immediately. You can try fixing it using some ready-to-use sealant available at your local store. Do read all the instructions carefully before you use and follow them properly. If you aren’t clear about the procedure, it’s better to leave this task to an expert.

Traces of Fungi in Water

Have you found some traces of fungi in the water? It is a serious symptom of fungi development in the water tank or the water pipes. It can cause serious blockages in your water pipeline and can prevent water flow. So, it’s highly important you clear all traces of fungi. You can use some mild herbal fungi cleaner recommended by experts in your water tank as well as reservoir and then open all the taps after an hour so that the fungi can get washed out through the water flow. However, we highly recommend you contact a leaking shower expert for a safe solution to the issue. As per experts, fungi can cause several types of health hazards if it comes into contact with skin, eyes or get swallowed.

There can be several other things that can damage your pipeline if not monitored properly – especially on old buildings. So, it is highly recommended that you go for a thorough checkup of your pipeline by experts at least once a year. If there is any damage in any pipe, replace it before it spreads corrosion through the channel or bursts.
